Quai de la Photo

Spéos was involved in the design, creation, and launch of Quai de la Photo, a floating art center dedicated to contemporary photography, which opened to the public in July 2023 on the Seine. Spéos organized the exhibitions that took place from July 2023 to March 2025, including:
– the inaugural exhibition with British photographer Martin Parr from Magnum Photos,
– the “Iconoclaste” exhibition and AFP’s auction,
– the exhibition “Jeunes énergies – Paris/Bxl” curated by Emmanuelle Halkin,
– the exhibition “La vie devant soi” featuring Emma Ball-Greene and the archives of Janine Niépce,
– the retrospective “My Own Space” by Kate Barry in collaboration with the Niépce Museum of Chalon-sur-Saône,
– the exhibition “La Seine, la Seine” with the Roger-Viollet agency,
– the Bicentennial of the invention of photography with the Maison Nicéphore Niépce,
“Un autre Mali, un autre monde” by Françoise Huguier.

A unique place

Quai de la Photo benefits from a privileged location on the Seine, next to the Bibliothèque nationale de France, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. It is a hybrid place that combines photographynavigation and catering.

Its ambitions are:
– To discover contemporary photography through open access exhibitions, photo workshops and meetings with photographers.
– To explore Paris from the river aboard vintage and small electric boats.
– To relax and eat on the boat’s terrace, surrounded by exhibitions and animations.

Spéos adds the photographic dimension

The photo exhibitions occupy the entire space, covering more than 1,000 m². They are open to the public and are displayed on the terrace during summer.
