“Young energies – Paris/Bxl”: exhibition at Quai de la Photo

Spéos is invested in Quai de la Photo, a new floating art centre dedicated to contemporary photography, which opened its doors to the public on the Seine in July 2023.

From 19 October to 10 December 2023, Quai de la Photo is turning its attention to emerging and new visual writing by bringing together 6 young artists based in Paris and Brussels in the exhibition JEUNES ENERGIES-PARIS/BXL, curated by Emmanuelle Halkin.

About the exhibition

Through singular artistic universes, often imbued with pop culture, fashion and hip-hop, this exhibition tackles the question of multiple identities and new territories to conquer. Steeped in digital culture and with a strong sense of collective and family memory, these young artists play with the codes of traditional photography in a no-holds-barred way.

In Paris as in Brussels, how do young people construct their own identities?
How do they sometimes find refuge in alternative practices?
How do they tell the story of the cultural in-between?

All these questions are answered in images, sometimes with analogue photographs, staging and humour, often with a tangy palette and original visual confrontations, but always with enthusiasm, generosity and kindness.

This exhibition is produced entirely by the PICTO laboratories, and for the occasion a selection of signed and numbered prints is also being offered by the La Comète bookshop.
