Prix Picto de la Mode 2025: two finalists from Spéos!

Spéos warmly congratulates Mai Yoshida and Alessandro Ferraioli, both professional photographers and Spéos graduates, who have been selected for the finals of the prestigious Picto Fashion Photography Prize 2025!

About the Picto Fashion Photography Prize

Since 1998, the Picto Fashion Photography Prize has supported fashion photographers. It was launched by the PICTO laboratories with the aim of helping fashion photographers start their careers and emerge as new talents. It has become a reference award for emerging talent in the fashion world.

Four prizes are awarded each year:

  • The Grand Picto Fashion Photography Prize with the support of Leica,
  • The le19M grant for Artistic Craft Photography, gathering the Chanel Métiers d’Art,
  • The Filippo Roversi grant with the support of photographer Paolo Roversi,
  • The LGA Management / JANVIER grant, launched in 2024.

For this 27th edition of the Picto Fashion Photography Prize, the jury is chaired by Daphné Bürki, stylist and presenter.

The Palais Galliera, Fashion Museum of the City of Paris, offers laureates the opportunity to join its collection and exhibit in a space made available by the museum, in collaboration with the Picto Prize. With the support of Studio Daguerre, a long-time partner of the prize, each of the four winners also receives a full studio day.

The finalists will be presented during the award ceremony at the Palais Galliera on June 12, 2025, with a portfolio produced by PICTO laboratories and featured in a Prophot book distributed at the end of the evening.

Spotlight on Mai Yoshida

Mai Yoshida, a Japanese photographer based in Paris, is an independent photographer and a graduate of the Professional Photography program in 1 year at Spéos, class of 2023. She creates a poetic, silent, twilight visual world where she explores the emotional and conceptual dimensions of the human face.

In her experimental series « Facial Reaction Occurring », Mai Yoshida explores the relationship between face, emotion, and identity. Models, wrapped in flowing black fabrics, become anonymous. Their “faces”, reduced to drawings on sticks, evoke interchangeable masks. Emotions, represented as accessories, raise the question: are they genuine or merely roles to perform?

Spotlight on Alessandro Ferraioli

Born in 1996 in Italy, Alessandro Ferraioli is a portrait and fashion photographer based in Paris. Trained in cinema and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, he combines strong theoretical grounding with a sharp aesthetic sense. His move to Paris marked a turning point in his exploration of light—central to his work. He is a graduate of the Professional Photography program in 1 year at Spéos, class of 2023.

Inspired by Latin for “illuminated hair”, his series « Capilli Illuminati » explores self-expression through hair and makeup. Comprising 19 images, the series showcases 6 distinct styles, revealed through various lighting setups: soft, diffused light for dreamlike effects, strong directional light, or backlighting for dramatic moods. More than a stylistic exercise, this series questions the power of hair and makeup as strong visual identity markers. Alessandro embraces both a technical and artistic challenge: capturing hair texture, shine, and shape while crafting a dynamic and sculptural aesthetic.
