Despite a year 2020 marked by many challenges and uncertainties related to Covid-19, Spéos continued to provide its professional photography programs and to develop new projects.
Spéos would like to thank all the administrative and professorial teams for their involvement throughout this period. Let’s take a look back on a busy year that is coming to an end, and have a look at the new programs for 2021!
Spéos continued despite two lockdowns
So as to adapt to the Covid-19 crisis, Spéos reorganized its teaching to ensure its primary mission: to train the photographers of tomorrow. Spéos thus adapted its training to distance learning and continued to work online. In order to prepare its reopening and to facilitate the return to practice, Spéos also equipped itself with 12 new photo studios, to reach a total of 24 studios. The traditional Spéos end-of-year exhibition took place exceptionally and exclusively online, with a website dedicated to the exhibition.
Instead of the traditional September-intake, this year’s courses started in October in order to wait for the reopening of borders for international candidates. During the second lockdown, which in France started on 30th October 2020, Spéos continued to operate normally and ensures the smooth delivery of all its programs.
Spéos commits itself to photography at the European level
Spéos has been awarded a grant from the European Union for a cooperation project entitled The Cycle: European training in Photographic Legacy Management. The Cycle project, funded by the European Union Creative Europe Programme, is conducted by a consortium of 5 European partners based in France, Spain and Croatia: Spéos, Magnum Fonds de dotation, The Office for Photography, The Institute for Art History, The University of Deusto.
The objective? To develop a transnational training and networking program in Photographic Legacy Management.
