Spéos joins forces with Agence France-Presse and the Moroccan Press Agency to train photographers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

As part of a partnership between Agence France-Presse (AFP), its subsidiary FactStory, and the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP), Spéos is joining the initiative to welcome and train Moroccan photographers as part of a unique program dedicated to the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), which will be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

An international partnership focused on training and imaging

This program is part of the cooperation established between AFP, FactStory, and MAP, aimed at strengthening journalistic coverage of African football and promoting the development of skills among young imaging professionals in Morocco.

Spéos, renowned for its expertise in teaching photography and video, is contributing its educational and technical know-how to this project by accompanying the selected Moroccan trainees on an immersive course in Paris.

Participants will benefit from:

  • intensive training in visual storytelling, photo and video reporting,
  • workshops led by professionals from AFP, FactStory, and Spéos,
  • personalized coaching focused on practical skills and journalistic rigor,
  • and real-life experience covering sporting and cultural events related to the CAN.

A collective dynamic around CAN 2025

The partnership between AFP, FactStory, and MAP aims to pool skills and resources for football coverage in Morocco, both before and during the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

“Spéos is very proud to participate in this program, which combines training, fieldwork, and international cooperation. We are delighted to welcome these Moroccan photographers and to support them in their journey into photojournalism and press photography. This collaboration illustrates Spéos’ commitment to international openness, knowledge transfer, and the promotion of the visual arts,” said Pierre-Yves Mahé, President of Spéos.

The focus is on broader coverage of soccer in Morocco with the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will also host.
