Spéos and AFP renew their collaboration for photojournalism training

After a first year rich in learning and high-quality projects, Spéos and Agence France-Presse (AFP) announce the renewal of their joint photojournalism training program for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Launched in September 2024, this innovative course allowed an initial cohort of international students to receive top-level training alongside AFP teams and Spéos instructors. Journalistic rigor, intensive practice, and professional immersion made this first edition a real success.

Second edition starting September 2025

Building on this success, Spéos and AFP are continuing their partnership for a second edition.
The program remains unchanged: a 10-month intensive course, taught in English, with four days of classes at Spéos and one immersion day per week at AFP headquarters.

Students will benefit from:

  • Mentorship by field professionals (photojournalists, editors, chief editors),
  • Exclusive masterclasses led by photographers from the AFP network,
  • Practical workshops and real-life scenarios,
  • Personalized support throughout the year.

Pierre-Yves Mahé, president of Spéos, says:
“This first year has exceeded our expectations. The program reflects our shared ambition to train a new generation of photojournalists, ready to face the challenges of the profession.”

Marielle Eudes, Director of Special Photo Projects at AFP, adds:
“Training tomorrow’s photojournalists alongside us is a key commitment. This program provides access to the heart of visual news production within one of the world’s leading news agencies.”
