Shulan Wang, “Golden Dreams”
Shulan Wang will present “Golden Dreams” at the Spéos Gallery, 7 rue Jules Vallès, 75011 Paris, from June 6th to September 29th, 2023.
Opening of the exhibition: June 6th, from 6pm to 9pm.
About the exhibition
“Golden Dreams” exist between the ebb and flow of being and nothingness, where dreams offer balance between rationality and sensibility: “I fantasize, I exist; I dream, I exist.” Golden Dreams was born of the spirit’s eternal need for sanctuary.
The gold accents on top of the black and white photographs express the tension of dreams in life, between the illusory and reality, the spiritual and bodily, brightness and darkness, destruction and reconstruction, harmony and disharmony: the negative (Yin) and positive (Yang).
The combination of modern photography and traditional Chinese gold powder painting provides a blurred feeling between past and present, to balance the conflict between delicate, gentle craftsmanship and calm, objective photographic techniques.
