Anna Shumanskaia will present « Between Present and Past » at the Spéos Gallery, 7 rue Jules Vallès
75011 Paris, from October 12th till November 26th 2021.

Opening of the exhibition: October 12th, from 6pm to 9pm.

« Sometimes we have the desire to plunge into the past to understand and imagine, to discover and to dream. This is what happened to me when I went to a little Siberian village, hardly accessible by transport… I wanted to see that magical place that had attracted my grandparents – successful operetta artists who decided to leave their theatre career to live a new chapter of their life.

Anna Shumanskaia was born on the 31st of May, 1974 in Pyatigorks, Russia in a family of teachers, artists and actors. The beauty of her region, surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains, the paintings of her father and her grand-father plunged her childhood into an artistic atmosphere that influenced her life perception and her creations. Having acquired her Master’s Degree in Linguistics in Russia, she also studies photography at “Photoplay”, Moscow. In 2015 she moves to Paris, where she learns French and gets her Master’s Degree in Photography at Spéos. Since that time she has been working as a freelance photographer, participating in numerous individual and collective exhibitions in France and in Greece.

Anna is a Spéos 2017 graduate from the The Entrepreneurial Photographer in 2 years.
